Following a successful career at Deutsche Bank over 33 years, Matthias left the Bank at the end of September 2023.

At DB, he was a Managing Director in the European Leveraged Finance team, based in London, for the last 17 years. He led more than 100 transactions over the last 10 years alone and has been one of the most proficient LevFin deal-makers in Europe.

Through numerous buy-out, refinancing and restructuring transactions, he has developed specific expertise in industries such as industrials, chemicals, business services and infrastructure.

From 2019, he chaired the Due Diligence Review Forum at DB, which reviewed all European HY bonds, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Matthias moved to London in 1996 to initially work in project finance. He focused on the power sector in Europe but also worked on water sector and mining & metals projects in Middle East and Africa.

For several years, he served on the supervisory board of a biotech start-up company.

Matthias is from east Germany, studied in Berlin, Moscow and New York and holds a PhD in International Finance.
