Philipp von Girsewald is a distinguished financial strategist with over 25 years of experience, renowned for his profound expertise in M&A, FinTech, and banking.
Philipp has successfully closed over USD 60 billion in M&A transactions across a variety of sectors, managed robust portfolios in venture capital, private equity, and corporate investments, and founded a thriving US branch of the European FinTech unicorn, Raisin (formerly known as Deposit Solutions).
His innovative approaches in regulatory implementation have reshaped strategies within financial institutions, enhancing efficiency and compliance in the wake of the financial crisis.
During his two decades at Deutsche Bank in Germany and New York, Philipp held several pivotal roles. During his long tenure as Global Head of Corporate M&A, he led global mergers and acquisitions, overseeing hundreds of transactions in financial services, infrastructure, healthcare, real estate, and alternative investments on 4 continents.
As the Global Head of Regulatory Strategy, he spearheaded the redesign of the bank’s regulatory compliance processes, making them significantly leaner and more efficient.
As Head of Corporate Investments Americas, he managed a diverse investment portfolio encompassing venture capital, Latin American private equity, and various funds. Philipp also contributed his strategic insights at the highest levels of decision-making among others as a member of the Executive Committee Americas and Deutsche Bank’s Group Investment Committee.
Following his illustrious career at Deutsche Bank, Philipp took the entrepreneurial leap to establish and expand Raisin’s operations in the US, growing the company to over USD 8 billion in Assets under Administration. His roles have also included various board memberships, where he influenced corporate direction and governance across continents.
Educated in Economics at the University of Bonn, Philipp also served as a lieutenant in the German army, which instilled in him a disciplined and strategic approach to business challenges. His international background, having lived in Germany, Spain, and the US, has provided him with a unique perspective on global market dynamics and cultural nuances, further enhancing his effectiveness in navigating the complex world of international finance. His leadership is marked by a dedication to excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth within the financial sector.
